FAQs

  • The Southwest Art Gallery and Science Center (SWAG+SC) is a unique concept that will bring together a diverse range of curious and creative people of all ages.

The team behind SWAG+SC has been working tirelessly to make this dream a reality. We intend to become a premier community space where the right brain and left brain intersect, fostering an atmosphere of creativity, curiosity, and exploration.

  • We are thrilled to be operating in our permanent location - the old City Hall building in downtown Dickinson. The gallery is open throughout the week, staffed by amazing volunteers from our community.

Our curriculum of classes, special offerings, and other events will primarily take place in the building, while still participating and supporting other community events.

SW Art Gallery + Science Center finds its home

  • The mission is to enhance cultural appreciation through education of arts and sciences for all ages. In doing so, we hope to facilitate a community of lifelong explorers inspired by art and science.

SWAG+SC intends to offer both artistic and scientific exhibits with interactive displays and experiences to actively engage visitors. In addition, there will be opportunities for educational classes and workshops, demonstrations, and outreach programs benefiting multiple demographics in our local and surrounding communities.

  • The leadership team has been popping up at community events with our windtube and soapbox for over a year - we truly believe that SWAG+SC will be built for the community, by the community. It has been a joy to connect with so many people who agree that arts and science support is essential to a healthy, vibrant community.

In the summer of 2023, you may have seen us:

…at the bandshell, celebrating local artists with a live painting silent auction

…in the Veteran’s Pavilion, providing six different hands-on STEM projects for children and their caregivers to explore

…in Legacy Square, on Tuesday mornings with a smile and a free activity for hands-on learning through play.

…again, in Legacy Square, hosting the first Makers Market in Dickinson, where artists, crafters, creators, and makers gathered together to showcase their talent

The best way to find out where we will be next is to follow us on Facebook and keep an eye on our Upcoming Events page.
